All of us who love cosplay want to do it as frequently and as limitless as possible, so we may think towards cosplay as not just a hobby, but a job opportunity. Get your cup of tea/coffee, sit back, relax and join us on this week's podcast, as we dive into our experiences with the financial and business sides of cosplay. This is more focused towards the Slovenian cosplay scene, but it's general enough to be applied to and useful to worldwide audiences of cosplayers and lovers of cosplay.
We talk about the different ways cosplayers can earn money in relation to cosplay like making props and cosplay and commissioning it to other cosplayers or just generally crafting things for clients that may be unrelated to cosplay like 3D printed objects; Appearances - a great way to get visibility and exposure but not as lucrative; selling prints as well, but still all worth it if you're not in it all just for the money. Also there is social media like Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter etc. and the ways to make money with that - sponsors, promoting your own merchandise, etc. and other platforms to gain money, like Patreon or Onlyfans. Combined, these smaller job opportunities add up to a bigger sum of money which offer a possiblity to make a good earning as a cosplayer, but still not enouth to make a living with the life standard today. Things are changing so maybe soon it will be a possibility to more than a few cosplayers to use cosplay as a means to earn money, or just to have their cosplay hobby expenses all covered and then some.
