With a longer wheelbase and body shape, the Outback is designed for smooth and controlled handling. On the other hand, the Forester is about two inches taller than the Outback, allowing for more outward visibility. In terms of power and production, both models are powered by SUBARU BOXER engines, however, the Outback also offers a 20-horsepower turbocharged engine option giving it the ability to tow up to 3,500 pounds. The Forester is able to tow between 1,500 and 3,000 pounds depending on the trim you select.
