#philippines #folktale Today we are back in the book of Philippine folklore written down by Mary Cooke Cole. In the first story, the son is tired of doing his chores and has a bird brain idea. Luckily, he finds someone to chew betel nut with. And in the second story birds aren’t always what they seem. So if they ask to help you harvest rice, you had better let them.

Podcast Shoutout: Afriwetu is a great podcast. If you want to know precolonial history in Africa, this is the show to listen to. Hosted by Mona, this show has history and folktales. She brings a love of the continent and the people. And if you like her show as much as I do, like, subscribe, and leave her a 5 star rating.

Listener Shoutout: to Sydney which accounts for 18% of my Aussie listeners. Sydney, capital of New South Wales and one of Australia's largest cities, is best known for its harbourfront Sydney Opera House, with a distinctive sail-like design. Massive Darling Harbour and the smaller Circular Quay port are hubs of waterside life, with the arched Harbour Bridge and esteemed Royal Botanic Garden nearby. Sydney Tower’s outdoor platform, the Skywalk, offers 360-degree views of the city and suburbs. And so I say to the listeners in Sydney Thank you and goodnight
