Under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, all children are meant to enjoy equal rights to grow up with access to education, healthcare and safety. However, child advocacy groups believe Australia still has a fair way to go.

آسٹریلیا میں اٹھارہ سال سے کم عمربچوں کی تعداد ۵۰ لاکھ سے ذیادہ ہے۔ اقوام متحدہ کے بچوں کے کنونشن کے مطابق تمام بچون کو اپنے ہم عمروں کی طرح برابری کے حقوق حاصل ہیں۔ مگر بچوں کے حقوق کے لئے کام کرنے والے گروپس کہتے ہیں کہ آسٹریلیا جیسے ترقی یافتہ مغربی ملک میں بھی بچوں کے تحفظ اور برابری کے لئے ابھی بہت کچھ کرنا باقی ہے۔
