I split them into two categories and split the prizes for those categories. The Execution will get the Baby Crab and the Wow will get the Lamborghini. The execution of concept is judged by how well the modeller brought a concept to life. Wow is simply how impressive the model was on the screen. Execution of Concept: Brian McGinnis – 1/48 Fokker DR.1 Good build and figures in a vignette, nicely done all around. Will S. – 1/100 Gundam Barbatos Great work with posing and very subtle lighting. Winner of the MHM Baby Space Crab: Andrew Hilton-Wigg – 1/100 Gundam RX-78-2S Desert scheme on the typically colourful RX-78. Subtle shading and appropriate weathering. This is a concept well-realized and looks great. Wow, that’s Impressive: Rodolfo Rupoli – Kalamity Gorilla mech Cool to see a Kalamity product, and this is probably the best paint and weathering in the contest. Grime and weathering is very convincing. Al Quint. – 1/18 Hydro-Vee powerboat Great subject, very clean work. More convincing painting on the interior would put this on the trophy table. Michael Canella – 1/220 Gundam Teifsturmer Deep Striker Wow, that’s one hell of a night light. Looks like an excellent build and very well lit. The photography is spot-on for exposure showing the bright lights but mostly not overexposing the subject. Winner of the 1/24 Aoshima Lamborghini Aventador Rick Reinert – 1/32 Roland Impressive work, rigging looks fantastic, the color tones for the wood, leather and engine are great. Eric Semmelmayer writes: A fun and quick build. This is the first 1:144 build I have done and I’m amazed at how tiny it all is. Kept mixing up way too much paint for the size, being used to 1:72 and 1:48. I have a number of these 1:144 in the stash. Glad they are there for a quick mojo booster. Steve Bolton writes: Anthony, I have this Aliens APC resin kit. Never done resin before. Have you any advice on cutting off the bottom block? I don’t know if it’s moulded that way or was glued on to keep body shape? Either way, a bit of poking with a knife doesn’t reveal any way forward. Any advice here mate? I have no belt sanders and the super sanding blocks won’t help until after it’s gone.
