While every Christmas film tries to convince us to not be jerks, Frank Capra's 1946 masterpiece offers us one of the least jerky characters ever in George Bailey, a guy who's postponed most of his personal dreams for the sake of his family, neighbors and hometown. Unfortunately, a crisis has left George wondering if any of it mattered, and he's going to need an angel to help him regain his faith.
