Once seen as an indomitable challenge, Mount Everest has become increasingly commercialised.

It’s become a tourist industry, with queues of climbers all waiting to take their photos at the top, paying anywhere between US$65,000 and US$200,000, the VIP experience coming with a higher price tag.

Journalist and author Will Cockrell has been climbing mountains for over 30 years and has explored the commercialisation of Mount Everest in his new book ‘Everest Inc: The Renegades and Rogues Who Built an Industry at the Top of the World’.

He joined Jack Tame to dig into the industry surrounding one of the most iconic mountains in the world.
