Another couple of cold mornings in some parts of WA's agricultural region over the weekend. There will definitely be more frost damage from the weekend events, although not as widespread as the previous ones this month and mainly affecting pockets in low lying areas. At this point, the damage from the severe frost in early September is now clearly visible in affected grain crops. Ty Henning is an agronomist covering the eastern central wheatbelt. He's just finished inspecting crops for his clients and says the cold mornings and dry conditions have been brutal. There's been a really positive response to Operation Grain Harvest Assist, which uses facebook to link retired defence force personnel with farmers looking for workers to help with this year's harvest.
