I often joke that as a teacher and mentor, if I had a $1 for everytime someone said to me, “I know,” then I’d be filthy rich. Now, sometimes this happens because the brain likes to conserve energy, so you’ll be listening to a podcast or reading a book and you’ll hear yourself think, “I already know that” or “I already read that”. So, if the analytical mind gets a whiff of something familiar, the ego doesn’t like to leave room for any new information.

It’s in these moments of “I know”, that we deprive ourselves of the opportunity to learn, to be curious, to make new discoveries and to expand. Not only that, we also sometimes rob ourselves of the possibility to change our mind.

Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the difference between “I understand” and “I know” and the problems that can arise from the latter.

There's also something really beautiful and powerful about showing up in the innocence of “I don't know”. It’s the space where wisdom, insight, inspiration and expansion can happen.

The knowledge we gain in transforming ourselves, our life, our thoughts, and healing our suffering, starts with our willingness to learn. We must strip away what we think we already know and come with an empty mind, so that new information, going deeper and true healing becomes possible.

• Learning Happens In Different Layers (9:22)

• The Brain Likes To Conserve Energy (13:54)

• Everybody’s Got A Story (22:40)

• Creating Space For Another Point Of View (27:44)

• Empty Out The Cup (34:27)
