#165: Redefining Accessibility & Inclusion with Taylor Lindsay-Noel
Manage episode 375638725 series 2868701
Episode 165 has themes of: Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury, Accessibility, Activism, Elite Athletics, Mindset, empowerment, entrepreneurship, overcoming hardships, victim mentality, Identity and Inclusion.
This episode is with Taylor Lindsay-Noel who is a 28 year old entrepreneur, advocate and activist, CEO of the tea brand Cup of Te (which by the way made it to Oprah's favourite things, and made it into the grab bags for the Oscar's and Grammy’s), she’s a poet, a former Canadian gymnast, and one of my favourite things about her, is her authenticity, charm and how she holds an empowering positive attitude EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Taylor shows up everyday… even on the exceptionally challenging days with grace and drive. She shows up as her empowered self, not the victim of her life's circumstances.
You see, in 2008, when Taylor competed for the Canadian gymnastics team tracking for the 2012 Olympic games, she had a devastating injury resulting in her spinal cord being severed at C4 resulting in the paralysation of her body. Taylor showed up to practice one day an able bodied elite athlete, and left a quadriplegic.
Her life, he goals, her identity, the use of her body, her passion and some might even argue her youth (because yes, she was 14 years old), was taken.
But that didn’t stop her.
Yes this is a powerful story and today Taylor is here to tell you how she keeps moving forward, how she was forced to evolve and redefine who she is, and how her drive to LIVE and LIVE with intension has open the doors of possibility, wonder and awe.
