“A Rest Guide for a Tired Nigerian Artist” is a podcast and a series of illustrated “guide books” based on conversations hosts and editors of the project, Rahima Gambo and Innocent Ekejiuba, had with artists in 2021. Each episode of the podcast features a conversation with a Nigerian artist or art worker about their lived experiences and histories. For the first season, we ask 5 Nigerian artists to list their 10 instructions for “Rest”. The illustrated guide books and will be published and exhibited during IDFA in Amsterdam, November 2021. “A Rest Guide” is an off-shoot project of Rahima Gambo’s experimental collective narrative blog that began in 2020. This project is produced by A Walk Space Studio and commissioned by IDFA Doc Lab, one of the leading platforms for interactive documentary art and storytelling.
