Marianne Kilkenny is my guest of this episode. She shares, after 30 years of working in Silicon Valley she decided to make a drastic change. Marianne watched her parents age and eventually move into nursing homes. As she cared for them she knew this was not the way she wanted to live the last third of her life. Marianne experimented with community living options including owning her own home, renting to others, living in proximity, and renting living space from others learning the possibilities are infinite. She learned living in community with others creates opportunities to learn more about ourselves. Also, other people can become the polish to help us shine the rough edges. Marianne wants to stay active and engaged as she ages and the people she meets express great interest in this kind of connection and growth. It’s like living the Golden Girls in real life.
