In this episode of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, LBC station voice John Mundy joins Sam and Mark to talk about the awful feeling you get when you know an impossible word is coming up, the best way to mark up scripts, and a cracking story about a panto dog!

Our VO question this week is all about radio station imaging, and the best way to approach it.

Script 1

Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension is a rare, progressive disease that causes the pulmonary arteries to thicken and narrow, reducing blood flow through the lungs and leading to strain on the heart.

Current understanding of the complex pathophysiology of PAH, has grown exponentially, revealing various mechanisms for treating this progressive disease.

PAH affects the pulmonary arteries and the heart by reducing blood flow through the lungs, in turn increasing strain to the heart, to eventually cause right ventricular dysfunction.

Script 2

Nestled among the stunning Welsh landscapes, The Skirrid Inn has a history steeped in mystery and phantoms. Known for its eerie legends, ghostly encounters and centuries-old secrets, this venue earned its reputation as one of Wales’ most enigmatic establishments. The exact age of the inn is unknown but it was mentioned in documents from the year eleven hundred.

It has seen its fair share of turbulent times, serving as a hostel for weary travellers, a meeting place for rebels and even where condemned prisoners were held en-route to the gallows, as it also served as a courthouse.

About our guest:

John Mundy was born and educated in Manchester, and is possibly best known to listeners of LBC as their station imaging voice for the last ten years! He trained as an actor but has worked mostly in TV continuity first with ITV and then the Beeb, where he anchored regional new programme 'Northwest Tonight'.

After a five years stint working in real-estate in Florida, John returned to the UK in 2000 where he's been a full time voiceover since, working in TV and radio commercials, corporate, documentaries and most genres in between!
