Writing from a unique perspective, transgender attorney, activist, and author, Robyn Gigl, shares the influences in her writings. Critics say that her legal thrillers, By Way of Sorrow and Survivor’s Guilt, are emotionally resonant and quietly groundbreaking.

In this episode, Robyn talks about her transitioning later in life, how it sparked her to write books, and how it affected her relationships with her then-wife and children through the years.

Just like us, Robyn loves to read the acknowledgments in every book she reads. In her works, she acknowledges her late mother’s acceptance of her as a transgender woman despite her conventional beliefs. Robyn also recognizes the support of her family over time.

In spite of having a day job as an attorney, Robyn finds the time to write. In her books, the protagonist is Erin McCabe, a criminal defense lawyer and transgender woman.

Listen in to the moving conversation I had with Robyn as she unveils her experiences of being a transgender author and the intent behind her acknowledgments.

Robyn, through her books, recognizes the LGBTQ+ community and hopes to touch the lives of those within and outside it.
