This episode explores various types of fasting, from intermittent fasting to prolonged fasting and OMAD. I discuss the benefits and risks associated with each type, emphasizing the importance of approaching fasting with caution and under medical guidance. I bring to light how fasting has been incorporated into all of our lifestyles for many generations and continue to show up in religious practices. At the end of the day, fasting is beneficial for improving overall health, cognitive function, and habit change and is not the best tool for long term weight loss. Regardless of what type of fasting you want to try, please consult your doctor first so you don’t enhance the likelihood of the risks associated with fasting.

Key Takeaways:

  • Fasting is not good for long term weight loss
  • Fasting is really just eating less calories throughout the day
  • Make sure you are still consuming the right amount of nutrients when you limit your eating window
  • Fasting is beneficial for someone who late night snacks or is an emotional eater
  • Females should not intermittent fast as women do not run on a 24 hour cycle and changing hormones require different needs
  • There’s an individual variance to everything, don’t believe everything you see on the internet
