In this episode, we explore using fall as a teaching tool in the classroom. Sharpening observational skills, we encourage students to observe fall objects, dissect them, and make accurate drawings. By fostering curiosity, engagement, and reflection, we create a dynamic learning environment that sparks a love for science and the world around us. Try out these strategies and share your feedback!

In this episode I share:

  • The importance of teaching observational skills in science and using the five senses to frame observation activities.
  • The use of familiar fall objects such as leaves, apples, pumpkins, and gourds to teach observation and deepen understanding of living things and life cycles.
  • Creating sensory bins filled with fall-themed items such as leaves, pinecones, acorns, cinnamon sticks, and orange-scented playdough.
