Welcome to The Daily Quote—a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for January 25th.
So, here’s a little behind-the-scenes trivia for you. My first thought for today’s holiday was to celebrate National Opposite Day. After all, it’s fun, clever, and a bit chaotic—right up my alley.
But then, I did the opposite of my first idea (as one does on Opposite Day) and ended up with National Fish Taco Day.
Besides, I already covered National Opposite Day last year, and if I may say so, it was an excellent episode. If you want to revisit it just go back several hundred episodes, actually, I'll drop a link in the show notes to save you some time.
But today, it’s all about fish tacos. And that brings us to our quote of the day, courtesy of Noah Kagan, entrepreneur and taco enthusiast:
"Tacos are a gateway drug to success."
Now, let’s break this down. On the surface, this sounds like a playful exaggeration, but there’s wisdom wrapped in that tortilla. Tacos, like success, are accessible, adaptable, and universally loved. Think about it: tacos start with a solid base—just like any great venture. They’re filled with substance, spiced with variety, and finished with a little zing, like a squeeze of lime.
Noah’s point is simple: tacos remind us that greatness often starts with the basics. You don’t need fancy tools, complicated ideas, or perfect circumstances. You just need something solid to build on and the willingness to try different combinations until you create something amazing.
So, today, channel your inner taco connoisseur. Start with what you have. Add a little flair. And if things don’t go as planned? Well, top it off with hot sauce and keep going. Because every step—every taco—is a gateway to something better.
When I was a kid I used to like taco nights. They were good and it was fun to make them and try something a little different. But they were the grocery store bought Taco Kits. It wasn't until I was an adult that I tried real authentic Mexican Tacos... man, what a difference. And fish tacos are one of my favorites.
That’s all for today’s episode. Thank you for tuning in to The Daily Quote. I’ll see you tomorrow, and until then, remember: build your success, one bite—or one step—at a time. And hey, treat yourself to some fish tacos while you’re at it.
Enjoy your tacos today and I'll see you tomorrow, same pod time, same pod station for another Daily Quote.
