Anne Hodder-Shipp of sex ed internet fame joins us again to demystify the misunderstood "P" word - pleasure. Anne and Sarah co-facilitate a course, Pleasure Attitudes, that focuses on re-establishing a joyful connection to pleasure in all of its forms. Robin interviews them and the three break down the difference between pleasure and sexual pleasure (and why they've come to be conflated), the blocks that many of us face when trying to source pleasure in our lives, and what to do about it. Anne and Sarah share how they help Pleasure Attitudes participants establish embodied self support practices and why it's so important to create routines that are personalized to your needs rather than fit the mold of what is packaged and sold to us as "self care." This episode contains a fair amount of pleasure and self care myth-busting as well as our signature permission-giving around getting to know your authentic needs and desires. Sarah closes out the episode with a "This is going to make you fucking mad" segment about the recent Alabama Supreme Court decision granting "personhood" to embryos.

Content warning: Sarah and Robin start the episode talking about the recent death of nonbinary teen, Nex Benedict. If this topic is as heavy to you as it is to us and you need to skip this part of the discussion, skip to 8 min into the episode. If you want to support Nex's family go to www.gofundme.com/f/dagny-benedict

If you or anyone you know are experiencing trauma related to Nex's death Trans Lifeline is available for adults 877 565 8860. The Trevor Project offers youth crisis counseling text "start" to 678-678 or call 866 488 7386.

If you're not familiar with Anne's groundbreaking update to the Love Languages check out our episode in season 1 F*ck Yeah to Inclusive Love Languages and her book Speaking from the Heart: 18 Languages for Modern Love.
