Lasagna was first made during the 14th century at the height of the Black Plague in Greece....in fact the word ‘lasagna’ stems an ancient Greek word...the word ‘laganon’ — the earliest form of pasta. when the italians first started using pasta...they started call it lasagna...the italian word for pot, which the meal was served in. So the word ‘lasagna’ actually comes from the method of cooking it and not the ingredients. and by the 1880's...italian immigrants brought their recipe to the new world and the rest is history!
