News; Ashley and Brad ice breaker facts; game: minute mysteries; goodbye/fun facts....national spumoni day... honoring the Italian ice cream treat that incorporates cream, fruit, and nuts.Spumoni is thought to have originated in Naples, Italy, sometime around 1905 and became known as Neapolitan ice cream....but traditional spumoni is different than what americans know as neopolitan. spumoni is gelato consisting of cherry layer with cherry bits, a layer of pistachio ice cream, and a layer of chocolate...with each layer having added fruits and nuts... which...by the way...you aren't supposed to scoop. scooping spumoni is considered bad taste, and it’s vital to slice it. neopolitan is chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream. spumoni is typically and traditionally served as a christmas dessert...whereas neopolitan ice cream is eaten year round.
