This week on WDDD? La Shaunda takes us to Bucharest circa beginning of the 1900s.

Vera Renczi gained infamy in the early 20th century for her gruesome crimes. Born in 1903, Renczi poisoned her victims, including her husbands, lovers, and even her own son, using arsenic.

She then preserved their bodies in zinc-lined coffins in her garden, where authorities eventually discovered the remains of over 30 individuals.

Renczi claimed she committed the murders out of fear of abandonment, preferring to keep her loved ones close even in death.

In 1926, she was arrested and sentenced to life in prison, where she spent the remainder of her days until her death in 1969.

Join us for one of the most chilling instances of serial murder in Serbian history.
