In this episode of Courage Becomes Her, Leslie Best talks about the death of her husband before their first wedding anniversary. She shares about how she moved into crisis response mode and how that was both a helpful and unhelpful strategy and distraction, how she tried to take care of herself, and how she acknowledged, honored, and celebrated the milestones. She talks about how she could have done a better job of asking for help, but also needed to experience some aspects of her grief journey by herself. She also shares about how this season has birthed new adventures that she never expected.

Leslie is a Midwesterner who has lived on both the east and west coasts, as well as internationally, and has found herself back in the Midwest in the last couple of years. She is a very successful engineer and corporate executive, with over 20 years at General Motors and another 10 years at leading engineering organizations. Leslie is a wise, strong, and courageous woman who loves traveling and being with family and friends, and has more recently embraced quietness and slowness in life.
