In this episode…

Where would you be today if you had applied everything you learned from the books you’ve read in the last 10 years? The secrets to success are readily available in books, so how can you effectively implement the lessons?

Avid self-development book reader and entrepreneur Nick Hutchison explains that individuals read an abundance of quality information, but taking action is what most don’t do. The results come to fruition only after applying the instruction or practice. Nick suggests taking notes — however, you should avoid multitasking. First, determine your intention for reading the book, but remember that stopping to take notes while reading interrupts the flow of comprehension. However, it’s wise to circle the page number, dog-ear the pages, or highlight passages. After completing the book, refer to those pages, reflect on the messages, and write down five to 10 takeaways before committing to action. You can download an activity tracker on your phone, join an accountability group, or do both to ensure accountability.

In this episode of The Cyber Business Podcast, Matthew Connor once again welcomes Nick Hutchison, Founder of BookThinkers, to discuss his book Rise of the Reader. Nick shares strategies for efficient note-taking, post-reading actionable steps, and applying the lessons you learned for self-growth.
