Do you remember these lyrics from a famous Eagles song:

There's talk on the street, it sounds so familiar Great expectations everybody's watching you People you meet, they all seem to know you Even your old friends treat you like you're something new

There’s a new kid in town…

This episode is more about a personality instead of a product. He was a new kid in town. However, he was instrumental in turning around a well know product.

Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Mazda.

These automotive brands, at one time, were all owned by the Ford Motor Company. However, under a new CEO, major changes were made, and the parent company sold all brands but one and cut the percentage owned of it. He put the focus on one brand…Ford.

On April 5, 2006, Bill Ford stepped down as CEO of Ford Motor Co. and was replaced. For the first time in the history of Ford an automotive industry outsider, meaning no automotive experience, was set in as CEO. And how do you think that turned out?

I like to listen to podcasts instead of radio and June of last year, I discovered a podcast that featured a presentation done in 2015 by the Ford CEO that made all the changes. This made such an impact on me and I’ve been thinking about it since then. This is a story about a great leader, the new kid in town, and what he did to inspire the employees of an automotive icon. I know you’ll enjoy hearing his story.

What’s on coming up next on My First Ride? I’m constantly searching for people that would enjoy telling the stories of their first rides and how their lives were influenced by them.

And I bet you probably know someone that would be a great guest for My First Ride Podcast, right? Let me know a little about them and their, story.

What about telling your story on the podcast? Let me know a little about you and first ride.
