“It’s only breathing! Whats the worst that could happen?”

As Breathwork becomes increasingly popular, the need for understanding it is grows stronger.

It's a powerful practice that has the potential to change many lives. And amongst the various styles of Breathwork, there are some which are safe & harmless.

However, there are also breathing techniques that in the wrong hands, practiced without proper knowledge or supervision, can create quite negative side effects.

A lack of barrier to entry & industry regulation means there are many Breathwork sessions out there being led by naive, undereducated practitioners. They drive big rooms with dozens people into dysregulated, contorted states & call it medicine.

This is made worse by trends of "trauma porn" on social media, showing videos of people having big experiences, screaming & crying.

Many participants walk away from these experiences worse off than they arrived, and wonder why they feel so bad afterwards.

As you can hear, it’s a spicy topic, and one worth understanding more about.

In this episode, Pete & Rene break down the dark side of the fast growing Breathwork industry - to help you become better informed about how to navigate the world of breathwork, and which style is best suited for you.

They explore:

  • Why it’s important to speak about this topic
  • The difference between “mind” and “body” based Breathwork, and the pro’s and con’s of each
  • Pete & Rene's experience of different types of Breathwork
  • Things to look out for when determining if one style or practitioner of Connected Breathwork is right for you
  • Some “horror stories” of unethical Breathwork practitioners, and how to spot an ethical practitioner for yourself
