But I promise you, if done right, it can be an effective and powerful way to meet someone amazing. I’ve seen it work for my clients, and I even met my husband this way! So let’s break down how to make online dating a smart, intentional, and successful part of your dating journey. What We Cover in This Episode: Why Mindset Matters: The way you approach online dating shapes your experience. If you go in thinking it’s a waste of time, guess what? That’s exactly what it will be. Internal Preparation Before You Sign Up: Before diving in, take time to reflect on your expectations and intentions. Ask yourself: What do I hope to get out of online dating? What kind of relationship am I looking for? Who do I believe is actually out there for me? How much time and energy am I willing to commit to the process? Shifting from Expectations to Intentions: Expectations can set you up for frustration, but intentions keep you in control. This is Part 2 of my 3-part series on the best ways to meet him this year—not five years from now, not in some vague future, but now. Today, we’re diving into social and singles events, a strategy that I know works. Why Singles Events? I get a lot of pushback when I bring this up, and I totally get it—I had the same doubts before I met my husband. Maybe you’ve thought: “There are no events for my age.” (Translation: I feel too old.) “There won’t be enough men there.” (And if there are, we’ll all be fighting over them.) “These events are just awkward and lame.” (Speed dating with a lock-and-key gimmick? No thanks.) Sound familiar? If so, let’s flip that mindset. Because the truth is, these events work when you approach them the right way. Shifting Your Mindset Instead of seeing these events as doomed before they start, I want you to adopt this perspective: Every event you attend is a step in the right direction. It’s about taking action, not obsessing over the outcome. You’re showing the universe you’re serious. The more intentional you are, the more opportunities you create. Your energy is powerful. Just by putting yourself out there, you’re opening doors you didn’t even know existed. Dealing with Doubt & Emotion Dating can bring up a rollercoaster of emotions—frustration, resentment, disappointment. I’ve been there. That’s why I recommend having a daily emotional check-in. Here are some journal prompts to help: What am I feeling about dating today? What do I believe is possible for me when it comes to love? How can I make dating more fun and lighthearted? How am I supporting myself in this process? If you can’t find the right event, create one! Here are some ideas: Start a singles book club, hiking group, or coffee meetup. (Your local library or community center can help.) Host a dinner party where everyone brings a single friend. Organize a singles improv night. (One of the most fun events I ever attended!) Find singles-specific events on Meetup. The key? Be intentional and stay open. Even if an event doesn’t lead directly to Mr. Right, the energy you put into the process will lead you closer to him—sometimes in the most unexpected ways. Regular self-expression allows you to feel at home in your own skin and lets your unique essence shine. Manifest Your Desires- Get clear on what you truly want in a partner and a relationship. Create a vision board, write a list, or even draw it out. Speak these desires aloud and feel them in your heart. Live Your Truth in Love- Stop trying to cater to others’ expectations. When you show up authentically and fully yourself, you’ll naturally attract the kind of partner who loves and values the real you. Letting Go of Control Yes, letting go of control is hard—especially if you’re a planner like me. But when you allow the universe to surprise and delight you, incredible things can happen. So, ask yourself: Are you willing to stop wasting time and energy on the wrong people and start trusting your heart to lead you to the love you deserve?
