Tradition holds that St. Francis once said: "Preach the Gospel always. Use words when necessary." At United Church, we believe that when words are necessary, it's important to find just the right words to help us lay our lives alongside the Gospel so we can see where we need to do more to "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable," like Jesus did. And sometimes those right words can be surprising--surprising, insightful, moving, a bit scary sometimes, even funny.
