When I was like 12 years old, my family joined The Chapmans down in Mazatlan for a unique experience I will never forget. I know, Mazatlan is in Mexico, don’t bring it up again. Gracias.
The worst part was my sister was going out every night to tourist nite clubs. She wasn’t of age but was closer than I was and she had the one thing that bouncers automatically accept for one’s entrance, she was a girl.
Now I’m not a jealous person but damn was I jealous. My dad must have noticed, (I could be a catty lil bitch when a youth) and came up with a plan to cheer up his boy with a visit to a cultural activity I could attend even in my pre teens; a Bullfight.
The answer to that question was yes.
Hell yea pop, let’s go watch this century old, Latin pastime.
Now, raise your hand all of you who have been to an actual Bullfight, yea, not anything like I was expecting. I thought there was gonna be more dancing around the bull. Hi I’m White.
Nope, the matador was in unwashed, unmatched clothes. Smoking a cigarette and coldly stabbing the bull over and over with many a sharp element till it fell over (lasting trauma from youth # 480, watching the bull blow blood out its nose, mama!!)
But, with that being said, every single thing we did, besides the bull murder, was exquisite. 5 knives for Mazatlan.
