Oof… That hits hard. While we’ve made great strides, many women still have internalized feelings about needing to care for others first. Now, that alone isn’t a bad thing. But an important piece that cannot be neglected is having awareness of how caring for others is affecting your own finances.
It is risky to leave yourself in the dark and have someone else control your finances. Divorce happens. Death happens. And having an awareness of how much money you have in various assets, how much money you’re bringing in, and how much money you’re spending is not easily outsourceable like hiring someone to mow your lawn or paint your house.
