Michael Shapot

This week Stephanie Rodin chats with her guest, Michael Shapot. The two chat about the Manhattan real estate market, things to consider when renting or buying, and the difference between a killer deal and a deal-killer.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • What challenges Michael finds in the current climate of the real estate market
  • How he addresses the concerns of buyers and sellers, and what factors he recommends considering in all transactions
  • Why Manhattan isn’t as “interest rate sensitive” as the rest of the world
  • What life circumstances vs. real estate circumstances determine in the market
  • The difference in a killer deal and a deal-killer
  • Why you need a knowledgeable broker
  • What to look for when finding the right realtor for you

Michael believes that educating clients about market conditions and how they relate to their unique situation is key to establishing trusted, professional relationships. It is important that clients understand their options and feel comfortable making smart, informed choices. By being the cool, calm, collected voice of reason, no matter how crazy the process can get, Michael encourages his clients to make decisions based on fact and reason rather than impulsive emotions.

Michael has been a leader in the Manhattan real estate industry, with his finger on the pulse of the market, since leaving his career as an attorney and then being recognized with outstanding production awards at every real estate company he has been associated with. He has been recognized by his peers and colleagues, receiving the coveted Manhattan Realtor of the Year Award by the Manhattan Association of … Realtors.

He is a lifelong student and teacher, who continues to develop his professional resume and share his knowledge and expertise with his fellow RE colleagues. Michael holds the distinction of Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Divorce Specialist, Certified Relocation Professional (CRP), and Master Faculty Trainer for Keller Williams University, in addition to being a licensed attorney in New York.

Currently, Michael leads a team of innovative and skilled real estate professionals. Like Michael, they believe in bringing positive energy and conclusions to each transaction for every client. Providing excellent service, coupled with innovative systems and marketing, a strong legal perspective, and market savvy are the foundations of the Shapot Team’s professional work ethic and philosophy.

On a personal note, Michael is an avid cyclist and skier. He has volunteered on co-op boards, the Real Estate Board of NY and is a devoted supporter of Sharsheret. Michael and his team organize and run the semi-annual Shapot Team Clothing Drive, which benefits different charities in NYC. His wife, Chaye, and two grown sons cheer him on in his endeavors, as do his clients. Go JETS!
