Revelation: The Ultimate Victory
Week 20
Highlights:
We do not want merely to see beauty, though, God knows, even that is bounty enough. We want something else with can hardly be put into words- to be united with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive it into ourselves, to bathe in it, to become part of it. -C.S. Lewis
Revelation 21:1-27; Revelation 22:1-5
1. The Unlimited Presence of God! (Revelation 21:11; Revelation 21:23-24; Revelation 22:5)
2. The fulfillment of what God intended! (Revelation 21:3
Genesis 1-3 compared to Revelation 21-22
- In Genesis, God provided a bride to his son Adam. In Revelation he will present a bride to the last Adam, his son Jesus. This will be the marriage we were made to enjoy!
- In Genesis, God gave Adam and Eve a land. Their children were meant to inherit that land. In Revelation, We are given the New Earth. Land that we were always meant to inherit. (Romans 4:13)
- In Genesis, God told Adam and Eve to multiply and fill the earth. In Revelation, the entire world is represented in heaven. Every race, tribe and tongue. A unified and multicultural picture of what was supposed to happen from the beginning!
- In Genesis, before mankind put a wall between God and ourselves, He walked in the garden and talked with us. In Revelation, God will dwell with his people personally in every corner of the Earth. The glory of God we were meant to bask in from the beginning.
- In Genesis, God planted the tree of life at the center of the garden to nourish and sustain people. In Revelation, the nations will be welcomed into a new garden where all will find healing and wholeness, fullness of satisfaction and provision. This is the life, the healing, and the satisfaction we were made to enjoy forever!
3. It’s a new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1-6)
4. Removal of sin and sorrow. (Revelation 21:6-8)
