Darmok Commentary. Before joining the writing staff of Star Trek: Discovery, Joe Menosky wrote 67 episodes of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. Perhaps the most beloved of those is "Darmok." The episode, from TNG Season 5, is about Picard's attempt to communicate with the captain of an alien species which speaks only in metaphor.
