EP11- On Running Slower Than Before

In my four years of college I have never raced faster than my high school PRs. A large reason for this has been my battles with injury: 4 bone injuries and two major surgeries. Racing again after time away (to heal) yields a mixture of emotions - happiness and gratitude to be competing but doubt/frustration that running feels hard/you’re not running the way you used to. This is a fairly universal experience for an injured runner but it’s not talked about enough. I want to share some tips I have mastered on the subject through my injury cycles to hopefully provide some love, encouragement, and healthy reminders.

Topics Covered in This Episode:

  • Racing Track for the first time in 2 years!

  • Details about my injury cycle/what kept me stuck in it

  • How I Finally Broke Through From the injury cycle

  • How to remain emotionally resilient when running slower than before

  • How to Remain Consistent

  • How I cut 63 seconds off my 3K time in four weeks

  • Insights into The best perspective a runner could adopt

I hope you all enjoy listening to this lil episode! I know that listening will leave you feeling empowered and inspired.
