Today we’ll hear Cullen Talley, a stepdad from Baton Rouge, LA, discuss his experience as the stepdad of two girls. We’ll cover everything from how Cullen met his daughters to navigating family transitions to his parenting role now that his girls are young adults. We’ll also hear Cullen discuss what his commitment to his girls means to him—and how it has enriched his life. POINT #1: Becoming a Stepdad is Rewarding, but Can Present Challenges Some stepdads find that younger children are more flexible and older children have a harder time accepting new family arrangements. Family transitions can be affected by how much stress a child carries regarding their biological parents’ relationship and their connection to their biological father. POINT #2: Your Investment Will Pay Off Raising kids requires effort, time, love and strength, and you never really know if your "investment" will pay off in the future. By committing to Stepdad Success and passing leadership skills to you children, you greatly increase your chances of raising children who bring you joy and fulfillment. Although stepdads should require accountability and set standards for their kids, they also should remember to have fun. POINT #3: Stepdads Provide Wisdom and Support Stepdads play a huge role in the lives of their children when they are young, but also can use their wisdom and experience to provide valuable guidance, advice and support to adult children. Serving as a strong male role model for your kids will teach solid values and prepare children to choose the right life partner, care for a family and make good decisions in adulthood. QUESTION OF THE DAY: What do you want for your kids in the future (strong marriage, fulfillment, etc.)? What can you do today to help them achieve it? CHALLENGE OF THE DAY: Regardless of what stage of parenting you are in, write down three simple things that you can do to connect with your kids. QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Step kids didn’t choose to have you, so you are required, in my point of view, to act as though your commitment to their mom also encompasses them." – Cullen Talley, stepdad, Baton Rouge, LA BECOME A 4 DIMENSIONAL MAN - APPLY TODAY Discover The ART & SCIENCE Behind Accessing your Best BODY, a Booming Business and Balanced Relationships...While Living The Life You WANT!
