Mark 10:1-31
Jesus continues to teach on his way toward Jerusalem. As he does, he confronts several instances of hard heartedness in peole. In each case, people have worshiped an idol, and then become more lifeless, stony-hearted, and dead inside - just like the lifeless things they have idolized! Jesus faced the stubborn hardness of our hearts throughout his ministry; he persistently chips away to restore a heart of flesh. He loves us too much to let us calcify and become dead inside, so even when it hurts, he is willing to break and remake us!
