Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series Podcast.

We continue our Profitable Perceptions Series with Part IV: Perception of the repulsiveness of food (āhāre paṭikūlasaññā) explained in the Dutiyasaññā Sutta (AN 7.49).

In this session we go through some ways for developing this profitable perception of the repulsiveness of food, as well as why it's important to do so. We also reference the Story of Venerable Belatthasisa Thera and the Buddha's Dhammapada verse to help us to understand this Noble Dhamma.

Some of the suttas that are directly or indirectly referred to:

  • — Rāgapeyyāla (AN 7.615-1124)
  • — Asubha Sutta (AN 4.163)
  • — Karaṇīyametta Sutta (Sn1.8)
  • — Samādhi-bhāvanā Sutta (SN 22.5)
  • — Saṅgīti Sutta (DN 33)
  • — Suttavebhaṅgiya (Pe 9)
  • — Gaṇḍa Sutta (AN 9.15)
  • — Puttamaṁsa Sutta (SN 12.63)
  • — Sekha Pāṭipada Sutta (MN 53)
  • — Atthirāga Sutta (SN 12.64)
  • — Suttatthasamuccayabhūmi (Pe 6)
  • — Belatthasisatheravatthu (Dhp 92)
