88. Golf Wellness Series: The Art of Bouncing Back with Coach Dar // Aftershow with Alex & Katharine
Manage episode 384777029 series 3432502
We're thrilled to announce that registration has opened for the Whistling Straits Retreat and the Women's Partner Tournament in Napa.
Experience five-star luxury at the Whistling Straits Retreat, an all-inclusive getaway in Kohler, Wisconsin, from June 28th to July 1st. Every detail is taken care of, so you can fully immerse yourself in the sport alongside 20 other women.
The Women's Partner Tournament in Napa, or the California Crush Invitational as we like to call it, is a stay-and-play package with tournament registration and lodging at the Silverado Resort. What's unique is that all tournament players will be staying at the same resort, making for a special, community-driven experience. The tournament will take place next October 13-15 2024, and will provide a full Napa Golf experience on both the North and South Courses.
COACH DAR
Golf is just as much a mental game as it is a physical one. That’s what today’s guest, Darleen Santore, believes. Coach Dar is a Board-Certified Occupational Therapist, performance coach, sought-after speaker, and the author of The Art of Bouncing Back.
In this kickoff episode in our wellness series, listen in as Coach Dar unpacks the nine steps to building resilience, diving into such principles as embracing the suck and reframing negative thoughts.
Coach Dar also talks about the power of feedback in refining our performance and realigning our goals, harnessing this feedback to make real-time adjustments during a match, and how to tap into our why power to fuel our motivation. Plus, we touch on the importance of creating our “bounceback environment” by making an effort to stay around positive people.
Finally, we explore the impact of emotional intelligence. Coach Dar shares how self-awareness can influence our game, discussing the need to cultivate grit by “staying in the hard long enough”, and the power of being willing to “turn the page” and take a chance on bettering your game tomorrow.
AFTERSHOW
Alex Anderson, Katharine LiMandri, and I give our thoughts on my recent conversation with Coach Dar on the nine principles to building your resilience as a golfer.
We discuss…
? The importance of remembering why we do what we do
? Why play with people who aren’t as good as you
? Why a bad shot doesn’t mean you have a bad swing
? Cultivating grit
? What we’re doing to improve our golf game
