When it comes to defining sepsis, who wins? Is it providers, who rely on the current definition of sepsis as “life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection?” Or do payers prevail – the ones who control the reimbursement? And under what circumstances would you ever side with a carrier that has denied a claim of sepsis?
