George Lucas’s New Museum Broke Ground in Los Angeles Yesterday If you’re driving past the campus of the University of Southern California any time in the next four years, and you think you see a giant spaceship being constructed, don’t worry. It’s just George Lucas making history again, as he joined the Mayor of Los Angeles and other officials for a ground breaking ceremony for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. A description of the museum from its website says, “This is the first museum of its kind, with an unprecedented collection that features fine art and popular art from illustration to comics, an insider’s perspective on the cinematic creative process and the boundless potential of the digital medium. We are a museum unlike any other.” https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/14/arts/design/george-lucas-museum-breaks-ground-los-angeles.html Laura Dern Really Did Say Pew Pew When Firing a Blaster in The Last Jedi Laura Dern is a child at heart. Star Wars fans have always simulated the sound of blasters by saying “pew pew.” Apparently, Laura Dern couldn’t help herself when shooting her blaster at Poe Dameron in The Last Jedi. “It’s sad but true,” Dern said. “Because I thought I was 8 and in my room. Because I was in Star Wars.” Fortunately, Dern’s blaster was set on stun, and Poe Dameron survived to continue to lead the Resistance. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/proof-laura-dern-said-pew-pew-firing-blaster-last-jedi-151524041.html The Team at Bad Lip Reading Is Spoofing Star Wars Again If you’re a fan of the wildly popular YouTube channel Bad Lip Reading, you’re going to want to check out their new Star Wars video “It’s Not a Moon.” It’s a unique and hilarious look at some of the most iconic moments in Star Wars history, as “Grand Moff Tarkin shares a musical moment with Princess Leia aboard the Death Star.” https://youtu.be/eT4shwU4Yc4 Today in Star Wars History: On this date in 2007, the US Postal Service decorated 400 mailboxes across the country in the likeness of R2-D2 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars.
