Many UK independent TV production companies have gone bust or are in serious trouble since the commissioning downturn hit in 2023 as a result of financial uncertainty, falling viewing figures and the drop in advertising revenue for commercial broadcasters.
The term Survive Until 25 has become a watchword for businesses as they struggle to keep going as the content industry undergoes a fundamental shift that may lead to lower levels of production in the coming years.
This week’s show marks the return of the Secret Producers - special show where we speak to some of the UK’s leading indies under the cloak of anonymity. We’ve changed their names and voices to protect their identities as they speak frankly from the frontlines of TV production to tell their stories of frustration and business survival.
