One woman's hope to encourage others to break their silence and share their stories.
Lea Tran's journey to freedom didn't end when she left VietNam and arrived in the United States in 1980 as one of many Boat People refugees. She was an adolescent girl stuck between two cultures and continents for many decades. Although Lea was free from tyranny and oppression, the emotional bonds of guilt and responsibility kept her from being truly free. After forty years, Lea learns that freedom is not only a place but also a state of mind and inner peace. By sharing her memoir "I Did Not Miss the Boat," she chooses to step out of the victim mindset to live an empowered, authentic life.
Lea believes everyone has a story, a life lesson we can learn from. "Extracting from her multi-faceted cultural and life experiences, Lea motivates her audience to bridge the gaps of cultural differences, to take action to break the mold of generational suffering, and to create their own opportunity to speak their voice, live their truth."
