Dr. Michael Sheehan received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Marquette University before receiving his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from St. Louis University in 1971.

He was the director of training for the Drug Education and Training Center at Eastern Pennsylvania Psychiatric Insitute; visiting professor at the University of Michigan School of public health; the Special Investigator for the Michigan Senate investigating the nursing home industry and penning the first draft of the omnibus nursing home Reform Act; the director of treatment and training for Northern Indiana Drug Services in South Bend; and opened his private practice in South Bend in 1975.

During his 50+ years of practice in clinical psychology, Dr. Sheehan has conducted over 85,000 therapy sessions. Finding a need, he was motivated to invent "The Self Esteem Game" to help therapists, teachers, and parents enhance children's healthy self-esteem. He developed employee assistance programs for local businesses, led organizational development engagements for local not-for-profits including a successful team-building process for the Notre Dame registrar's office, developed the protocol and ran the first Notre Dame drug screening program for athletes, started the not-for-profit American combat Veterans with War Trauma which still has ongoing groups for combat vets; and founded CAID (Child Advocate in Divorce) which provides parenting classes for the St. Joseph County courts for parents going through a divorce.

Dr. Sheehan is currently semi-retired, focusing on assisting and treating Vietnam vets with PTSD, overseeing the CAID program, developing CEU training programs for promoting healthy self-esteem, and sharing his insights from his professional experience on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
