How goes it legends?! Welcome to Episode 23 of The Air Conditioning Podcast. In this episode we chatted with Shane Walker from Walker Air Control, based in Adelaide, South Australia.

Shane tells us about his HVAC journey from being an apprentice as an employee with a Large Service Company to working as a Daikin Service tech and then eventually branching out on his own. Shane kindly sat with us a bit longer than your average interview to provide as much Daikin Service tips as we could cram in to the episode. We’ll have him back again to dig a bit deeper into that side of things but hope you enjoy the episode!

Here’s a taste of what we covered…

> Can you tell us more about Walker Air and how it came about? (3:00)

> Where are you based and how far do you go to service your clients? (8:45)

> Were the companies that you worked for previously on wages, or incentive based or both? (10:15)

> Do you think you got given a hard time as an apprentice or was it in jest? (11.15)

> Can you tell us more about your time with Daikin, were there some more frequent issues that you can recall where you can offer any tips? (13:15)

> Is there any equipment you’re not really familiar with? (21:30)

> Do you think that techs with Daikin experience are better suited to be working on their equipment compared with those that haven’t? (22:15)

> We get down and dirty with unpacking some of the more common faults! (27:30)

> What was your thought process around leaving Daikin and branching out to start your own business? (39:00)

> How do you generate your leads? (42:18)

And seriously, that is the tip of the iceberg! Jump on and have a listen there are plenty of gold nuggets in this episode.

Thanks heaps to Shane for joining us on the Show and we look forward to speaking with him again in the future for more of the same!
