Lanie Zipoy is a Memphis-born, New York-based director and creative producer working in film and theater. She has studied and worked in many fields — genetics, fashion, the healing arts, and sports. Lanie’s feature film directorial debut, The Subject, stars Jason Biggs, Emmy Award nominee Aunjanue Ellis, Anabelle Acosta, Carra Patterson, Nile Bullock and Caleb Eberhardt. The film won Best Narrative Feature Film awards from Lighthouse International Film Festival, DC Black Film Festival, BronzeLens Film Festival and The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. Lanie took home Best Director Awards from The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival and the Newark International Film Festival and was given the Mira Nair Rising Female Filmmaker Award from the Harlem International Film Festival. Jason Biggs and Aunjanue Ellis have each received multiple awards for their performances in the film.
