Steven Selikoff returns to the Podcast this week to fill us in on the latest development by Amazon to try and take on the Chinese eCommerce juggernauts with the likes of Temu, Shien, AliExpress, Tik Tok and others.

These platforms have been taking advantage of a customs rule known as De Minimis, which, in most countries, allows cheap, small parcel deliveries from China and other countries to be excluded from customs duties and tariffs.

Us 3rd Party sellers, shipping goods in bulk to FBA are generally subject to duties, taxes and tariffs before we can even sell our products, so we’re at a bit of a disadvantage.

Steven says that Amazon is courting factories in China right now, and inviting them to participate in Amazon’s new ‘factory direct’ program.

What form or shape Amazon’s new program will take is uncertain. We don’t know if it will be a new standalone website platform, or if it’ll be integrated into Amazon.com somehow.

Time will tell.

Today, Steven offers tips for 3rd Party sellers to remain in business as the stormclouds gather around us! If you’re still selling ‘Me too’ products, you won’t stand a chance.
