This interview excerpt was from May 18, 2012 on the Kansas City Baseball Vault featuring Joe Rudi. Joe joined Chris Kamler and Jeff Logan of the Kansas City Baseball Historical Society along with the guys from the KC Baseball Vault podcast, Troy Olsen, Michael Engel and Jeff Herr. Joe spoke with us about how he became an Athletic, the crazy Charlie Finley and his time in the Major Leagues. Joe had the triple-triple with 3 Gold Gloves, 3 All-Star Games and 3 World Championships during his time with the A’s. In a 16-year career, Rudi was a .264 hitter with 179 home runs and 810 RBI in 1547 games. Towards the end of the interview, Joe talks about the controversey of being traded to the Red Sox which was then overturned by Commissioner Bowie Kuhn.
