How else can pollen benefit bees? In this episode, we talk about the common eastern bumblebee, bombus impatiens and a gut pathogen called Crithidia bombi. Researchers started out looking at nectar and then moved on to pollen when they weren't seeing the results they wanted. They selected a few plants they thought might be interesting, and one of those plants was the sunflower. This episode is a great look into the world of research, how scientists approach a study, and most importantly, they discovered something fascinating to support bees.
