This episode is the second of many on the new series: Searching the Scriptures. Searching the Scriptures is a series where I will be going through content that I taught to some students at my church on the development of the Bible and hermeneutics (how we read the Bible). While the class is about the Bible as a whole, it is more focused on the Hebrew Bible (/Old Testament/TaNaKh); in this series, we will go through the following:

  1. Harmful Hermeneutics
  2. The Composition of the Bible
  3. The History of the Bible
  4. The Literature of the Bible
  5. The Cosmos of the Bible
  6. Searching the Scriptures Today

With the first episode explaining many of the most common misconceptions of the Hebrew Bible and what it is not, this episode explores the Hebrew Bible and how we even got it. The truth is, the Bible was not a fairytale made up by some rich, well-off group of cultists, or a compilation of propaganda for different ethnocentric empires, and it wasn't written by maniacs who went into a trance when some spirit took control of them to force them to write on paper what we have today. This episode will also touch on the controversy of canon: what the Pseudepigrapha and Deuterocanon are and whether or not they're divine.
