In Episode 2, Nate and Mike, with the help of special guest Steve Simmons, read Chapter 3 of the Life Sciences IT Guide, which is focused on writing and executing your 90-day plan. They also talk about technology and life and have a few drinks along the way.
Also, our primary camera/audio feed broke pretty much right from the start, but sadly, we didn't notice. Fortunately, I had a backup camera/mic in place, but that resulted in some meh audio pickup here and there. Still, it worked out well, but you may need to jack up your volume a bit on your device. Sorry about that and we will get it sorted for next time.
Post-chapter 3 analysis/reflection questions:

  1. What model (e.g. PDCA, 5/3/1, Pomodoro) would you use to structure your 90-day plan and why?
  2. How would you balance immediate wins vs. longer-term objectives in your 90-day plan?
  3. What key stakeholders would you prioritize meeting with, and how would you gather their input and feedback?
  4. How would you measure and report progress against your 90-day plan? What metrics would you use?
  5. How would you gain executive support and buy-in for your 90-day plan?
  6. What pain points could you address for executive leadership in your 90-day plan?
  7. How would you handle inevitable changes or delays that impact your 90-day plan?
  8. What tips or best practices from the chapter would you implement in creating your 90-day plan?
  9. How does creating a detailed 90-day Plan set the tone for your tenure in a new role, and why is it critical for immediate impact and long-term success?
  10. Reflect on when you wished you had a 90-day Plan. How could it have helped align your actions with the company's expectations?
  11. What immediate wins would you prioritize in your 90-day Plan to demonstrate value and build credibility within a new organization?
  12. How can developing business relationships and understanding organizational culture be incorporated into your 90-day Plan, and why is this important?
  13. How do you decide which tasks to prioritize to ensure both immediate results and alignment with long-term goals?
  14. The chapter suggests making the 90-day Plan public within the company. What are this approach's advantages and potential challenges?
  15. How does updating the executive leadership team on your progress every 30 days contribute to the success of your 90-day Plan, and what format would you use for these updates?
  16. Can you provide an example of a situation in which you had to adapt your plan due to unforeseen circumstances, and how you managed it?
