In today's Bonus Episode of the Cattle Call, Curtis interviews a few special guest at this years recent Charolais Junior Nationals in St. Paul, MN. If you haven't listened to episode 15 with Harlin Hecht the Show Dedicatee be sure to check it out. Curtis sits down with one of the Co-Chairs for the event, Sydney Zehnder to talk about her family's connection to not only Charolais Cattle; Sydney's, her father Chad and sister's involvement in the Charolais Junior Leadership Programs. They also talk about organizing the event and how the Conference is much more than showing cattle as they discuss the leadership contest held as part of the conference.
Curtis then has the opportunity to sit ring side during Team Fitting Contest with the Olsen Family as Don Olsen is recognized as the Conference Dedicatee. Don passed away about 4 years ago. They discus his start in the Charolais Breed and his passion for Charolais cattle. In addition discuss how Don marketed his cattle, involvement in both Kansas Charolais Association Leadership and his long time support for the Junior Program. Don's grand-daughter Nissa wraps up telling about the current status of Olsen's Fancy Creek Charolais just north of Randolph, KS.
The episode wraps up with Curtis talking with Laci Schrader who's family has deep roots in the Junior Program for Charolais as well as the roles her children are taking on. Laci shares stories about traveling to various Junior Nationals as a Junior, Chaperone and as a parent. Hope you enjoy this bonus episode of the 2023 Charolais Junior Nationals.
